Circa Sports review

7.6out of 10

For straight-bet bettors in Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky or Missouri who want a book that states a low margin and posts its limits. Same-game parlay, live-betting and bonus players should skip it.

Circa Sports is a Las Vegas sportsbook founded by Derek Stevens in 2019, licensed in Nevada and live online in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri, with an Arizona license not yet in use.[1][2][4][5][6][7][12][13]

Its CEO told Missouri regulators it held 3.1% of handle in 2024 and targets about 3.5%, against Nevada's 7.4% statewide hold in October 2025. It posts limits, takes bets from any customer up to them and raises them toward kickoff.[55][61][38][39][37]

The trade-off is the product: a narrow menu, no standing sign-up bonus, iOS ratings between 1.9 and 3.5 on small counts, and withdrawals Circa says take 3–5 business days.[22][25][28][44][45][15]

Best for

  • Straight bets on major sides and totals at larger stakes: about 95% of Circa's bets are $50 or more, by the CEO's account, and the book says it targets a hold of about 3.5%.[55]
  • Bettors who want posted limits: Circa publishes limits and accepts bets from any customer up to them, a model its director kept after taking over in 2023. He also says there are limits for everybody.[38][39]
  • Illinois bettors who want to avoid per-bet fees: Circa set a $10 minimum bet from 2025-09-01 instead of charging a fee, while DraftKings and FanDuel added $0.50 a bet when the tax began in 2025. Fees change, so check each app before betting.[36][35]
  • Football contest players: Circa's three NFL contests (a season-long elimination contest, Circa Million and Circa Grandissimo) carried $30M in minimum 2026 prize pools between them. They are paid entries, and 2026 registration closed on 2026-09-12.[34]

Skip it if

  • You build same-game parlays or bet mostly in play: in 2024 Circa said SGPs needed in-house tech still about a year away, and live betting is described as thinner than at the big operators.[24][22][25][44]
  • You want a sign-up bonus: none was standing as of July 2026, and Circa's own blog frames that as value over promos.[28][29][30]
  • You want a polished app or a desktop site: state apps rate 1.9 to 3.5 on iOS, and betting is app-only, per review sites.[44][45][47][50][51]
  • You are in Nevada and cannot get to a Circa property: accounts there are opened and funded in person with ID.[18][44]

How vigged scores it

7.6/10
  • Pricing 25%8.5

The CEO's stated 3.1% hold (2024) and 3.5% target sit well under Nevada's 7.4% and Illinois' 8.5% statewide figures, consistent with reduced juice (about −107 to −108 as an example equivalent): the 8.5 anchor. Hold is not a posted price and Circa publishes no juice schedule, so it goes no higher.[55][61][62][40][calc]

  • Markets 15%6.5

Major sports, futures in parlays, two-sided futures and alternate win totals, but same-game parlays were waiting on new tech as of 2024, store reviews complain of no cash out, live betting is described as thin, and the CEO says he does not want a menu as big as others'. Between the 5 (thin menu) and 7 (limited props) anchors.[17][5][21][24][22][25][44]

  • Limits 15%9.5

Publicly welcomes sharp action, posts limits and takes any customer up to them, with six-figure bets reported on big games. Its director says any book has limits for everybody and names what lowers them, and much of the limit evidence is from 2020.[37][58][38][39][25]

  • Payouts 15%7.0

Circa states 3–5 business days, which is the 7 anchor. Kentucky terms list no fees and a $100,000 per-transaction cap, cards are deposit-only in three states, and complaints about slow withdrawals come only from weak, small samples.[15][16][19][20]

  • App & site 10%5.5

iOS ratings run 1.9 to 3.5 on small counts, betting is app-only, and store reviews report crashes, logouts and bets slow to settle. No outage report was found, and the new app adds biometric login and limits shown on each bet, so it sits just above the 5 anchor.[44][45][47][43][48][50][52]

  • Promos 5%2.0

No standing sign-up bonus: the 1–2 (none) anchor. Occasional state promotions with 1x playthrough have run in Missouri, but they were capped, dated and are now closed.[28][29][31][32][33]

  • Safety & licensing 15%9.0

US state licenses in six states and a Nevada license since 2019, between the 8.5 and 10 anchors. Privately held, and responsible-gambling tools vary by state: Nevada limits go through a support form, and no reality-check tool was found.[2][6][11][10][42][15]

Pricing: a low stated hold, no posted schedule

Circa publishes no juice schedule. At a Missouri Gaming Commission meeting in August 2025, CEO Derek Stevens said Circa finished 2024 at a 3.1% hold and targets about 3.5%, against “as high as 16%” for others. Covers called it a low-hold, high-volume model aimed at serious bettors.[55][56]

For scale, Nevada's statewide hold was 7.4% in October 2025 and Illinois' was 8.5% in April 2025, per Covers' summaries of regulator data. Hold on handle mixes parlays, futures and results, so it is not a main-line margin. Circa's figure is the company's own and was not found in any state's operator-level data.[61][62][59]

Example prices If all of Circa's handle were balanced two-way bets, a 3.5% hold would equal about −107.5 a side and 3.1% about −106.6. Parlays and futures hold more than main lines, so main lines would have to be tighter still. That is an inference, not a measured price.[calc]

Example prices At −110 on both sides you need 52.38% to break even and a $100 bet at a coin flip costs $4.55, or $2,272.73 over 500 bets. At −105 it is 51.22% and $2.38. The gap is $2.16 a bet, $1,082.25 over 500.[calc]

Example prices Parlay margin compounds per leg. Three −110 legs pay +595.79 and three −105 legs +644.21, against +700 at the no-vig price: $13.03 versus $6.97 per $100 if each leg is a true coin flip. A lower-margin book's parlays are cheaper by construction.[calc]

Illinois added a per-wager tax in July 2025. Circa answered with a $10 minimum bet and no per-bet fee from 2025-09-01; DraftKings and FanDuel added $0.50 a bet in 2025, and their fees have changed since. Example prices: a $0.50 fee on a $10 bet at −110 lifts the break-even from 52.38% to 55.0%.[36][35][calc]

Markets: straight bets first

Circa's house rules cap a parlay at a 2,000-to-1 win ratio in the Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa and Kentucky rule sets. A pushed parlay leg drops out, and a 2-leg parlay with a push becomes a straight bet. Maximum wagers are at management's discretion.[17]

On teasers, a push on a 3-leg or longer ticket drops one leg and a push on a 2-leg ticket refunds it. Circa's teaser prices were not found.[17]

Futures can go into parlays, and Circa offers two-sided yes/no futures. It has posted alternate NFL season win totals.[5][21]

In October 2024 Stevens said same-game parlays and in-play depended on in-house tech still “probably a year away”. In October 2025, as the new app rolled out, he said: “We do not have a desire to have a menu nearly as big as maybe some others.”[24][22]

Review sites describe live betting as thinner than at the big operators and report no live streaming; one says player props often appear only 24–36 hours before a game. On cash out, one affiliate review mentions it, while Nevada app-store reviews cite its absence.[25][26][27][44]

Limits: posted, and open to winners

Circa posts betting limits and accepts bets from any customer up to that amount. When Chris Bennett took over as director, the Review-Journal reported no change to that model.[38][39]

In 2020 Stevens said limits start in the low four figures early in the week and rise toward kickoff. The then director cited $100,000 to $200,000 Sunday bets, and Super Bowl limits that year were $100,000 a side on the Sunday and $500,000 from the Tuesday. Those figures are six years old.[37][58]

Bennett is plain about the edges: a book that says it never limits anybody is “logically inaccurate”. He names what lowers a bettor's limits: betting into a market that stayed open after it should have closed, and coordinated betting across several accounts.[39]

Online limits are reported at $5,000 to $10,000 on many markets by review sites only. No regulator or press report of Circa limiting winning bettors was found.[25]

Circa has a record of making prices: a 2020 Review-Journal report says that from 2019 it posted early college football lines and let sharp bettors move them; one Purdue −2 opener moved to Iowa −4. No current study of whether it leads or follows other sharp books was found. vigged uses Circa as one source of its no-vig price, beside Pinnacle, Polymarket and Kalshi.[58][65]

Payouts: 3–5 business days, by its own account

Circa's support page says withdrawals go through third-party vendors and can take 3–5 business days. It also says Circa cannot view or cancel a pending withdrawal.[15]

Kentucky's terms list no deposit or withdrawal fees, payouts within up to 5 business days, a $100,000 maximum per transaction and no daily, weekly or monthly withdrawal limits. Colorado's house rules commit to 5 business days, not counting processor delays.[16][17]

Methods vary by state. Colorado lists ACH through Trustly, PayPal, Venmo, debit card, wire and Apple Pay for deposits; Missouri adds Play+; Illinois and Iowa take PayNearMe cash. Cards are deposit-only in Illinois, Colorado and Kentucky, and some methods need a prior deposit before you can withdraw to them.[15][17][16]

In Nevada, accounts are registered, activated and funded in person at a Circa property with government ID; online funding there runs through Play+.[18][15]

Complaints are thin evidence either way. Sportskeeda says withdrawals and app performance are the most common complaints, and rg.org's 6 user reviews are 63% negative. Too few to measure anything.[19][20]

App: a new build, low ratings

Betting is app-only on iOS and Android, per review sites. Circa runs separate state apps plus a new multi-state app, which started in Iowa in October 2025 with Colorado and Missouri next and Illinois planned for early 2026.[50][51][22][23][43]

Store ratings are low on small counts. On iOS the Nevada app shows 3.4 to 3.5 from 165–175 ratings and Illinois 1.9 to 2.0 from 82–89; the new app shows 2.6 to 2.9 from 11–24, and 2.4 from 17 on Google Play.[44][45][43][48]

The new app's listing names Face ID or fingerprint login, the betting limit shown on each wager, a one-click quick wager, Apple Pay and Venmo funding, and one account across states once each state moves over.[43]

Store reviews praise sharp lines and high limits. They complain of a dated interface, thin markets, no cash out, slow withdrawals, bets slow to settle, ID-check failures, crashes and logouts. Legal Sports Report adds that it works less well on some Android devices.[44][49][28]

No Circa outage report turned up; it is not named in Legal Sports Report's Super Bowl 55 outage roundup. Missouri's regulator called launch day in December 2025 “largely uneventful”. To check yourself, read the Most Recent reviews and the version history on your state's listing.[52][53][54]

Promos: price instead of bonuses

Circa had no standing sign-up bonus or promo code as of July 2026. Its own blog makes the case for value over promos.[28][29][30]

Missouri has had dated offers. America 250 (2026-06-01 to 2026-08-30, now closed) credited $250 to the first 1,000 patrons who deposited and wagered $250; the credit had to be wagered once before withdrawal. Crown The Win gave 100 Missouri residents $100 in betting credits per Royals home win; entry closed 2026-09-28.[31][32][33]

The football contests are paid entries, not bonuses. Minimum 2026 prize pools: $20M for the season-long elimination contest, $6M for Circa Million VIII and $4M for Circa Grandissimo. Registration closed 2026-09-12.[34]

Safety and licensing

The Nevada Gaming Commission approved Circa's license in April 2019. The Illinois Gaming Board licensed it in May 2023, Missouri granted it one of two untethered mobile licenses in August 2025, and Arizona's license took effect on 2026-07-27.[2][6][11][13]

Outside Nevada it runs through partners: Century Casinos in Colorado, Wild Rose in Iowa, American Place in Illinois and Cumberland Run in Kentucky, where the regulator's database lists Circa Sports Kentucky LLC.[4][5][6][8][10]

Responsible-gambling tools differ by state. Illinois and Kentucky have deposit and wager limits and 72-hour to 1-year time-outs in the app; Colorado and Iowa offer daily, weekly and monthly limits with a 24-hour wait on increases; Nevada limits go through a support form. A time-out still lets you log in and withdraw. 1-800-GAMBLER is listed. No reality-check tool was found.[42][15][16]

Support is email ([email protected]) and an FAQ; no phone line or live chat was found, and Legal Sports Report says there is no 24/7 support suite.[41][15][28]

How it compares

Example prices A book at −107 a side, about Circa's stated 3.5% hold if it were all main lines, pays $93.46 on a $100 win against $90.91 at −110: $1.27 a bet, $637.21 over 500. Circa's actual main-line prices were not read.[55][calc]

It is small next to the retail books: about $3M of Missouri handle in its first two months, against about $679M for FanDuel and DraftKings together. One estimate puts it at about 11% of Nevada's online market.[57][60]

Example prices Kalshi's taker fee at 50¢ works out to about −107.25 a side and Polymarket US's reported fee to about −105.13, before the bid/ask spread. Neither is a sportsbook: both are CFTC-regulated exchanges where you trade contracts against other traders.[63][64][calc]

Same bet, better number: if you live in a Circa state, keep it beside your retail app and compare before you bet.[66]

Pros

  • Stated 3.1% hold in 2024 and a 3.5% target, against a 7.4% Nevada statewide hold.[55][61]
  • Posts limits and takes bets from any customer up to them.[38][39]
  • No per-bet fee in Illinois; a $10 minimum instead.[36]
  • Kentucky terms list no deposit or withdrawal fees and no daily, weekly or monthly withdrawal caps.[16]
  • State-licensed in six states, with a Nevada license since 2019.[2][6][11]

Cons

  • Same-game parlays waiting on new tech as of 2024, no cash out per store reviews, and live betting described as thin.[24][25][44]
  • iOS ratings of 1.9 to 3.5 on small counts; betting is app-only.[44][45][50]
  • Withdrawals stated at 3–5 business days, and cards are deposit-only in three states.[15]
  • No standing sign-up bonus.[28]
  • Nevada accounts must be opened and funded in person.[18]
  • No posted juice schedule; the low hold is the CEO's own figure.[55]

Circa Sports vs other books

  • vs DraftKings 7.9/10

In Illinois DraftKings added a $0.50 per-bet fee in 2025; Circa charges no fee and set a $10 minimum instead. DraftKings has the deeper menu and same-game parlays.[36][22]

  • vs FanDuel 8.3/10

FanDuel and DraftKings together took about $679M of Missouri handle in two months to Circa's $3M. Circa's pitch is the price: a stated 3.1% hold in 2024.[57][55]

  • vs Kalshi 8.1/10

Example prices Kalshi's taker fee at 50¢ is about −107.25 a side before the spread, close to Circa's stated hold. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange, not a sportsbook: you trade contracts against other traders.[63][55][calc]
